within the scope of the national arts plan, the josé estêvão school group launched a fanzine: laboratório plano.
to compose the first issue, the same challenge was presented to all students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades of the visual arts course at aeje.
the proposal was simple. it was called “personal project” and sought for each student to create a coherent body of work capable of presenting their individual artistic practice, similar to the autonomous and free experiences developed in a graphic diary.
fortunately, we were surprised by the originality, creativity, and diversity of the languages used. from this large volume of work, we tried to create an unpretentious object, unfolded into different graphic formats, capable of embracing the multiplicity of proposals realized.
issue number one of laboratório plano presents 16 personal projects: 12 included in this booklet + 4 annexes, as well as several posters and postcards. these 16 personal projects were selected (among many others that could also have been part of this edition) with the intention of creating a first document that, once leafed through and experimented with, allows a better understanding of the fanzine’s potential in school contexts.
