derby is the result of a joint project between imprensa canalha and the print studio mike goes west. this is an entirely screen-printed publication of unprecedented character, as the images were created directly on the silkscreens with a brush. for the illustrator, the challenge is significant, since this direct method requires a gesture of great spontaneity and allows little room for corrections. the drawings are therefore urgent and precise. ten illustrators were invited to participate in this project: five from lisbon (andré lemos, joão maio pinto, filipe abranches, jucifer, and luís henriques) and five from porto (marco mendes, miguel carneiro, nuno de sousa, carlos pinheiro, and zé cardoso). the text is by pedro vieira de moura. the cover, back cover, and endpapers are by josé feitor.
