"When I was a student at ESBAP (Porto School of Fine Arts) in the late 1970s, I brought together a group of artists and we published the fanzine Belo Zebu, of which only issue No. 0 was ever released. Contributors included Abi Feijó, Rui Nunes, Teresa Carrington, Alberto Péssimo, Né Santelmo and others.
I subsequently spent five years living in the Netherlands, playing in the resident band at a jazz club in Rotterdam and publishing comic stories in the Dutch magazine De Vrije Balonen.
Today, I work as a graphic designer and jazz saxophonist, and occasionally create comic albums on commission. These include Epopeia das Águas do Cávado ('The Epic of the Waters of the Cávado'), Uma Viagem Fantástica ('A Fantastic Journey'), commissioned and published by GEC-Alsthom, one of the companies bidding to build the Porto Metro, with a print run of 60,000 copies, and, more recently, A História da Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto ('The History of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Porto'), commissioned by the institution itself."
