A Maldição do Monte da Mina ("The Curse of Monte da Mina") recounts the lives of the students who attended Escola do Monte da Mina between 1982 and 1986. The texts by Nuno Sousa and Ana Torrie fictionalise the life of each student, invariably culminating in a tragic ending.

Each left-hand page features a short text identifying a student and recounting their tragic biography, while the facing page presents a drawing by Ana Torrie. The illustrations recreate the solemn, formal poses traditionally adopted when having one's photograph taken.

I am left with the impression that the authors began with a collection of old photographs, similar to those found for sale at Feira da Vandoma, and then imagined a tragic narrative for each image.

Texts by Erradiador on the blog "My Nation Underground".
