Mister was published by the Senhorio collective, which organised various artistic and cultural initiatives in Porto over a period of five years. Some background helps to put the project into context:

"The most ambitious projects never got beyond the planning stage. Some prompted meetings, conspiracies, texts and drawings, and countless late-night conversations. Meanwhile, we needed cash for renovation work and materials, rents were beginning to pile up, and we had to earn a living. We made decent money selling bits and pieces and all sorts of stuff at Vandoma, organised parties to help cover the costs of the space, produced fanzines and drawings to sell, and put on concerts.

Amid all this, the projects we most wanted to pursue came to nothing, perhaps because we lost enthusiasm, because those involved couldn't agree, because we lacked funding, or simply because they weren't needed. We had no programme and were hardly methodical. One possible explanation: we liked occupying the space left by things that remained undone.

Over five years, many people passed through Senhorio: to work in the space, take part in meetings and projects that would never materialise, sing and write songs, have a few drinks, and see what everyone else was up to. It became a transitional space between education and the world of (un)employment, a place of dialogue and conflict, with plenty of love and little sense of direction or planning."

Mister brings together a wide range of drawings, texts, logos, photographic montages, comics, dictionary definitions and other materials, reflecting on the complexities of artistic practice.

The publication features contributions by António Preto, Dinis Santos, Carlos Pinheiro, Tatiana Santos, Ana Torrie, Marta Bernardes, Nuno de Sousa, Inês Azevedo and André Alves.

A loose, original A4 drawing by Carla Cruz is inserted in the middle of the publication.

Texts by Erradiador on the blog "My Nation Underground".
