- As part of the National Arts Plan (Plano Nacional das Artes), the Agrupamento de Escolas José Estêvão (José Estêvão School Group) launched a fanzine entitled Laboratório Plano.
To produce its first issue, the same challenge was presented to all Year 10, 11 and 12 students enrolled in the school's Visual Arts programme.
The proposal was simple. Entitled Projeto Pessoal ("Personal Project"), it invited each student to create a coherent body of work reflecting their individual artistic practice, much like the independent and unrestricted creative explorations developed in a sketchbook.
We were delighted to discover the originality, creativity and diversity of artistic languages employed. Drawing on this extensive collection of works, we sought to create an unconventional publication, unfolding across different graphic formats and capable of accommodating the wide variety of proposals submitted.
Issue One of Laboratório Plano presents 16 Personal Projects: 12 included in this booklet and four additional inserts, alongside several posters and postcards.
These 16 Personal Projects were selected from many others that could equally have been included, with the aim of creating an initial publication that, through browsing and hands-on exploration, would offer a deeper understanding of the potential of the fanzine within an educational context.
