- In the midst of the post-revolutionary period, a handful of artists with libertarian leanings decided to publish a fanzine (or magazine). Amid the revolutionary turmoil, with the mainstream media aligned with the powers of the day, these independent-minded creators hoped to sell 8,000 copies to make the project financially viable. Needless to say, this was the only issue of O Estripador ever published...
Nevertheless, their efforts were worthwhile, resulting in some excellent comics by Bruno Scoriels, Fernando Relvas, Duarte Boavida and Delphim Miranda. The publication also includes an article on bodily liberation, translated from the French magazine Actuel. Housing issues and problems within the education system are also given prominence.
Recognising that the publication lacked written contributions, the editors placed an advertisement seeking "guys or girls who can write something worthwhile (anti-psychiatry, alternative education, etc., etc.)."
It was a shame that the project never continued...
